The Growing Place (TGP) has deep roots starting back some 30 years ago when Leo Clausen started a counseling center called Tandem House on the Neighborhood Church of Chico campus.

After many years of operation, Judith L. Thompson LMFT, took the reigns as supervisor of Tandem House. After 5 years, change was in the air and a fresh group of counselors came together, breathed new life into the organization and gave it a new name, The Growing Place.

After the first three years as The Growing Place, the organization realized it could best serve people as an independent organization out in the local community. With Judith L. Thompson, LMFT as the Executive Director and Steve Herrick as the Director of Operations, TGP filed papers as a nonprofit organization and began a new chapter out in the community of Chico providing counseling, life coaching, and education.

We provide these services to individuals, couples, and groups. These services are provided by licensed professional counselors, counselor interns, certified life coaches, and well-trained professionals. Our plan for the future is to obtain the financial support required to enable the provision of services to a greater and more diverse portion of the population. As we grow, we are seeking to expand our offering of services and expand into other communities.

Since we are trying to minimize the cost of our services, it is imperative that we receive financial support from the local community and other institutions that provide financial support to helping organizations like TGP. No amount of support is too small. Everyone can make a difference in the lives of people dealing with difficult and traumatic circumstances. Help make a difference today!
